No, i won't be graduating in four years. Yes, i've thought about it throughly. Yes there is a possibility of me bringing a boy home for Christmas. No, it probably won't happen. Yes, my phone does work. No, my internet does not. Yes, i am aware i am using the internet, i am at the library.

Before & After
I painted another room last week. It was my favorite project so far and I can't wait for it to be really finished when Kyle gets home and puts up the chair rail and crown molding. Anyway, I also finally organized some digital shots from when we moved in and the ones I've kept taking as I updated the house. So for those of you who haven't seen it in a while, or ever, now you can see how far our little home has come! Update
The weather was the worst of yesterday - nearly got taken out on 435 by a Ford 150 swearving back and forth in front of me! Got home about 2pm and took it easy for the rest of the day - as it was, the doctor did less cutting than originally intended, so I had fewer stitches, and am already on the mend. Sorry about those who didn't know - I know I talked to several of you about it at Thanksgiving...but I didn't call a "family meeting" so it's possible you missed it. Or, of course the other possibility is that I said it and you weren't listening to me ...that wouldn't be a first for any of you either! Love you so, Mother S

High Winds
Early this morning we had ferocious winds...and I heard a cuthunk nearby, but it didn't sound like it was in the house. I went to investigate and the house was fine. Then thought perhaps it was a limb fallen onto the hot tub...started out on the screened in porch to see how the hot tub was - only to see the gas grill and both propane tanks blown over and strewn across the porch! No clue yet how to get the thing upright yet, but I'll manage.
Weather permitting, I'll still have a minor surgery procedure tomorrow - Sandy is taking me up to Leavenworth, and I'll be home in the afternoon, with movies to watch. Friday I'll be in Manhattan with Sean, staying with Connie and Ron, Saturday after graduation and lunch, I'll head home again. Mother Superior

Last night I went downtown to the Hotel Phillips and met up with Mary Ann Moore for a glass of wine and a great chat. She was in town doing a seminar for a company and was able to squeeze me in between the last session and a business dinner. She looks great, seems happy and loved all the news about all of you - hopefully this outfit will invite her back so we can visit again on someone else's nickel.

I remember a quarter of a century ago, heading out to find just the right Christmas tree for our home in Monterey, CA...Dad and I walked with Brian, Blair, Lindsay and little Kevin through rows of trees to find just the perfect one. With the tree standing against the house, a fire in the fireplace and nearly everyone happy, I hopped into the old footed bathtub for a relaxing bath after such an adventure. Within the hour, Dad and I were racing to the Ft. Ord Hospital...Kyle wanted to be part of Christmas that year and didn't want to miss a thing. With two of the most happy and breathless parents , he arrived before the doctor had both gloves on...and it's been that way ever since. It's been a fast ride these last 25 years too, but it has been wonderful. You are a wonderful man, Kyle - son, brother, uncle, cousin, husband and soldier - I love you dearly honey and am very proud of you. Mass was for you and your Dad today - stay safe and come home soon. Loveyoumissyoumost, Mother Superior

So...
So it is dead week. And I feel like doing nothing. Mainly because I graduate in one week, but also because I got a 93 on my last physics test, so now all i need is a 87 out of 200 to keep my B. That was a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. PLUS my Business Ethics course, the final was switched from 4:30 on Friday of finals week ( The worst time in the WORLD for a final), to online and submit before friday. Plus my other two physiology courses I don't have to take the written final because I rocked all semester and just have to do the skills test. I think we all know I have got mad skills. SO what could have been the worst 2 weeks of the semester, all of a sudden are no big deal. Six out.

TO DO
Alright i know it has been a while, well lets be honest this is the inagural visit for funf. I dont really know where to begin. Things here are remote, the foreigness of this land has just begun to really sink in, i think its the trees starting to turn. I was walking yesterday through a field and the earth was damp from the nights dew, and the leaves that had fallen were swept by the wind into a dirt mound. The air was crips and the colors vibrant I could smell for miles in every direction, little campfires, someones breakfast heating up, vehicles, animals, crops. It brought me back to when i used to spend hours in the woods back at school with the enegmatic young finnigan. It was really nice, then later that night we recieved some presents from the local youth, however what they did not know was we came to the party with two crazy drunk italians named capone 11, and 17. Needless to say they began to see things our way and will never be RSVPing again. The cool thing was that i got to talk to them pretty much all night. I know it sounds gay to say but being on the ground with high ground all around you emasculates you but having friends in the air evens it back up and actually puts us a little ahead. Other than that little riddle, things are pretty much the same, can i post pictures on the blog, if so i have a couple great ones that can be posted. I hope everyone is doing well and this continues to be a place to hang out and share stories. I'll call you on thanksgiving hope its as fun as it seems like its going to be. I dont know your name but whoever went to the boys game on sunday had quite a show and quite a finish. hopefully we can get the games on thanksgiving. Alright long enough, out.

Things I hate about The Unit.
For those of you who also enjoy CBS's "The Unit," here is a little list of things I can't stand about this season:
1. The new theme song. It sucks. Lindsay and Beth suck for liking it.
2. Hector's death. That is bullshit and we all know it. Did you notice he was already edited out of the opening montage? BS.
3. Tiffy. She is a whore and a bad actress. And Tiffy is a stupid name. Tiffy? Really? She should have taken the sniper bullet to the head in Beirut, not Hector. Whore.

Cookies

Here's me and MacKenzie making our cookies for Fünf and Mike. Mike's a good friend of Fünf's from Airborne School and he's stationed in Gardez. MacKenzie teaches in another school in county. Things got a little crazy when the dogs came around... sorry for furry cookies. We finally finished decorating after almost 5 hours. That is a lot of cookie time.

DC Parking
If you park like an asshole in the District (take up two spots, park at odd angles blocking traffic, double park) I am going to start putting these flyers on your windshield for the rest of the world to see:
I PARK LIKE AN ASSHOLE
Then, maybe, next time you won't park like an asshole. I think it'll catch on.

Horrible pangs of guilt from the past
Just had another horrible flashback...I am the reason pops never got his PhD. Anyone else have the memory of what happened? I'll give you all a hint, it has to do with going green...
Riddle me this
So I am super bored at work, try this little ditty. Leave your guesses in the comments and I'll post the answer later.
Sir, I bear a rhyme excelling
In mystic force and magic spelling
Celestial sprites elucidate
All my own striving can't relate.
Who am I ?????

DC in the house
Hey all...another dreary day in the District. Class is still going well, beats the hell out of being in the office, but we have another six weeks to go, and all of us are starting to get a little apathetic. I am trying my best to remain positive though. Had dinner with Jongela, Little Joseph and Aunt Judy (aka Debbie Downer) the other night. Nice to see the crew all together...with L&D gone, it is nice to have some fam in the area.
Funf: Sorry I missed your call the other day...seems like I always do. Give us a shout back when you have time.
I can't wait to see you all for Thanksgiving, really looking forward to the break. I think, after recent developments with some friends visiting from Kansas, that I am also going to be in Kansas City for Christmas, then go to Breckenridge with some college friends to celebrate the New Year. If we can pull it off, it'll be great. Don't tell Ma yet, plans aren't finalized...don't want to get her hopes up.
That's me for now...see you all in a week!!

Physics = MAGIC
Well yesterday was crazy for me in Manhappenin. I work in the cardiopulmonary physiology lab and we are currently doing three research projects. I am involved in all three and some really cool research techniques. So that is very time consuming. I am getting ready to present an article to the group to discuss the effects of living at moderate altitude and training at low altitude. We discuss articles and see if the training techniques they used were good, and if they can be improved on when we do research. This is by far my most interesting class. Physics is going, and that is about all I have to say about that. If you haven't heard electricity and magnetic fields, they are everyday magic. NO EXPLANATION, just magic. 6 OUT.

Greetings from Denmark
Just got off fairly uneventful flight to CPH. Take the upgrade for some miles and had both seats to myself - unfortunately you can't lift the armrest. Movie selection really poor and watched Evan Almighty followed by The Godfather. Sitting in the lounge at CPH airport people watching from my vantage spot. Apparently Danes have an unhealthy obsession with the TV screens showing flight status. At least 99% of people passing stop and stare for an average of 2-3mins. Next flight in an hour or so - been up for 21 hours - only another 14 or so to go - woohoo!

Sunday
Well giddyup Cowboys! Just watching the end of the game with Pi (who is also packing for him trip to Denmark). Gone till Saturday the off to ATL on Sunday. It shoudl be a fairly quiet week for me, maybe start the workout regime.
So some ideas for the house:
1. Backsplash and above cabinets. Saw a demo on how to use vinyl flooring to do this and found this which I think will look good with the blonde cabinets and the gray counters (and gray paint I am thinking). Is gray too dull for a kitchen?

#2. Some sectional ideas:

Not sure if the room can handle the greenish one...
#3. Redoing lightbulbs with energy saving ones. Go Green People!
#4. Table for the kitchen:

#5. There's no need to shop for nightstands since the only thing that's going to fit in our room is the bed. So we can cross that off the list.
#6. Not sure if they sold their patio furniture this weekend at their garage sale, but I guess that will be on the books soon too. I really like the firepit they have in the back, so maybe I'll check out craigslist.
And ideas on the above items, window treatments, colors for the other rooms, desks and office, well you get the idea, are most welcome. We are so excited! I mean seriously excited. Peaceout.

this week is almost over....thank goodness
YAY. It's thursday. Although this week has been absolute hell, its done with. I talked with #2 tonight, and i don't think she appreciates the blog. someone talk to her. i tried to reason, but to she was unreasonable. :) I vote blue on the backback for the dogs.....
Number 6 say
I left my vote to number 5B in the comments. No clue what I am doing on the blog. I'll figure it out.
SUPPOSE your dogs had been behaving outrageously for the last week (approximately). While on walks, chasing after squirrels, cats, other dogs, dragging you behind. You may think I'm joking but I decided to use my body weight thrown on one to hold both back, which only resulted in me begin dragged through a construction zone bruising my hip, knee, and elbow. 160+ lbs of dog/wolf strength is no match for me. This is of course after the incident of leaping through the screen of the bay window. Suppose he's absolutely perfect at home, and has learned to heel, sit, stay, and lie down, it's just when he's out that he goes beserk. Suppose your spouse would not approve of neutering the (wolf-) dog but you do it anyway? Suppose you, knowing that despite the tendencies lately on walks, decide to follow Cesar's (Dog Whisperer, fantastic) advice, and get one weighted doggie backpack and walk them separately... blue or red backpack? I need a vote. Also need a vote on Kyle being allowed to EVER choose an animal for a pet again. PS They are good with children :) Really, my neices were just here.
Thanks for all the work getting this set up, 3!

I'm here...
3 & Pi, Sorry I didn't call you back last night...it was an early to bed, early to rise kind of night for me. I've been up since 4am.
Will exoplore this whole blog-thing later, as for right now, I am off to save the free world.
You will all notice that I did not include any anti-tourist senitment in my handle, but be forewarned, they are the source of much of my city-fed consternation and frustration, and this just may be the perfect outlet for my rants.
Where is number 2? Number 2, please sign in. Haha, you are number 2.
That's doody.

Welcome!
Well Congratulations on making it this far! I know this is a first for some of you, but you'll pick it up in no time. So we can decide on some basic rules on posting. If we want to keep it anonymous then just remember to leave out names. Or maybe just last names. I know that some of you still have job interviews ahead of you and remember that employers are now checking this kind of stuff. Hehe. But seriously...
Let me know if you have any issues posting or getting yourself set up with a profile or picture or the life. I had thought we'd all be our numbers, but Number 4 said he wanted his handle/avatar to be something to do with maiming tourists. I said, it's November for goodness sakes, all the tourists are down here now.
I think this is really gonna be great and save on some of our phone bills. Oh yeah my company pays for mine and I plan on posting during working hours. Awkward. So happy blogging!!
